Galle is the most desired destination in the South and can be reached within a few hours using the Southern Expressway. The city is remarkable for its remains from the Dutch colonial period. The Museum is the oldest building built in the 1700s and before and the Dutch Reform Church was built in 1752. The Dutch Fort is a historical, archaeological, and architectural monument that still stands a polished appearance. Surrounding the city is a collection of tourist hotspots; Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, Bentota, and all the other southernmost coastal areas.
