Kithulgala is a small town belonging to the wet zone of the country partially being in the rain forestry area with two monsoons per year. The small rainforest consists of a limited range of rainforest bird species and lush green vegetation. This small wetland is famed for water-based activities native to its premises. Famous excursions during the weekends are for their scenic beauty; playing in the river, jungle walks, waterfall jumps/ slides, white water rafting, and delicious local lunch at the end of all. The town locates for the award-winning movie “The Bridge on the River Kwai” is being filmed in the Kelani River very near to Kithulgala.
