Yala is a Wildlife sanctuary sheltering 44 species of mammals and 25 species of birds although immensely populated by leopards. It’s a deciduous forest with a green canopy and ground layer of spotted grasslands shrubs. Even though Yala is not of thick vegetation the animal inhabitants sneakily camouflage into the environment flawlessly. This wildlife sanctuary inhabits a savannah-like land with six national parks and three wildlife sanctuaries within its vicinity. Semi-arid climate with rain only during the Northeast monsoons the land bears the untamed world of wildlife.
